The Final Count Down

As of now i have 7 days left of camp and will be different by the time you all read this. We just got back from Dorney park where i'd like to think everyone had a good time. I had second shift with the four girls from my cabin. The first half i went on all the rides i liked from the first time we went there. My girls went to the waterpark the first half and when i got them we went on rides and played games.
Already it has been a week since camp olympics, crazy. Camp olympics were absolutley insane! I was on team Ireland. Go Ireland! The other countries were Cananda, Greece, and Italy. All the teams had two counselor captains and randomly asigned kids from all age groups; the other counselors were random as well. The first event was swimming and we sucked. Greece took the most spirt points first as well (we get points for winning and team spirit). Greece looked like they were in for an easy victory, their captains were awesome and their counselors were crazy into the games. Apparently Ireland was the underdog before the games even started. After lunch, where we shout and yell chant the whole meal, we had a bunch of different games but we ended up winning one of the biggest events-volleyball. It was epic. Then we had a scream dinner and won the spirit stick( yes just like Bring It On) and found out that we were in the lead. We had night races, lost the spirit stick to the Canandian's, but we were still in the lead. We greatfully went to bed and the next day kept screaming and cheering for Ireland. By this point half the counselors lost their voice and a kind of fatigued i had never felt before was constant. We had a bunch of events, i helped the juniors with bean bag toss golf. Than we had tug of war- this is where i thought,oh no, we are going to lose. Our team was small, like Little Giants small. All the other teams had these large senior boys and ours were these compact little guys who have yet to have a growth spurt. But some how we won against Greece in record time and every other team! Yes we had a small team but we had kids who wanted to be there and wanted to win. Then we had closing cerimonies(sp?) and we had a big irish jig thing( i got footage of it for later). All the teams have gone and the judges are deciding who the winner is. We line up; Greece is fourth, Cananda is in third, and now it is between italy and us. They say the winner is only up by 62 points over the second place team. Holding my breathe they announce that Ireland is the winner! Holy crap!

So that was that. We still have a carnaval day tomorrow and i have another day off before the end of camp. . . As well as prom, awards, fairwell ceremony, and leaving day. I can't wait to get home and tell these stories properly, and not from the little touch letters on my ipod touch.

Everyone is getting a big hug and most likely, tears. This has been one of the best summers of my life where i have been able to see change in my self that i don't think i would have gotten any where else.

I will see you all soon!

Goodbye July

Hey everybody,

Wow it has been a while since i have posted on here, guess it just shows how crazy and busy camp can be. Well we are in the second half of camp with only three weeks left to go. Things have been going well with tennis, but i can't say the same for cabin life. Right now i have four girls in the cabin but not long ago we only had three. A girl who has been with us since the beginning of camp has moved to another cabin because she couldn't stand or handle being around this nasty girl who is also in our cabin. I don't blame her for leaving. The nasty girl is rude and bossy and has to comment on everything that is said even when you are not talking to her. It drives everybody crazy.
Deede and i are working on this but for now she is gone on a three day trip to D. C. So we get a break from her. Oh and we got the other girl because this other counselor couldn't handle her homesickness. We might get another girl but the last two weeks will be weird because Deede is leaving next week and i don't know what will happen to our little cabin.
Camp olympics starts tomorrow and i'm team ireland! We have to go crazy with spirit as the kids battle it out. I'll be taking lots of pic; it's gonna be awesome!
I went to Scranton today with my friend Denise. We went to the mall and saw Cap America, it was amazing!

Well I'll try to update again

Miss you all

Harry Potter!

Hello everyone!

Finally after years of reading and watching Harry Potter it has all come to an end. What a bitter sweet thing. I saw the movie today after having gone to see a doctor for my soar throat and lack of voice. The best was when the nurse, after taking my blood pressure and temp, said "if there is anything you need, just yell". I started laughing (quietly of course) and she realized what she just said and laughed too on her way out.

Three weeks down and one more to go before alot of campers leave at the the half way mark of a Greeley summer. Hannah, one of my campers will be leaving us and then we will get one more girl and that will be it. Only four girls for the rest of the summer; that is, of course, if everthing goes acording to plan. But we all know how that one goes. Recently we have had about five counselors leave us, well quit really. The lack of down time and stress has gotten to them, i think. I didn't really know any of the ones who quit well, they were mostly horseback staff. They had it worse too, i think, because they had to go to the stables earlier than everyone and smell like horse shit all day. I don't blame them.
I wonder how long everyone else will ladt?

Tennis going well ( save the fact that i never get assigned any where else) and we just had an intra-camp game wher sixth and seventh grade boys played Kiuga(i think that is how it is spelt i'm not sure)and we tied three-to-three with them. We have some good kids, particulary the French kids, they are good , but very French, and by that i mean arrongant and annoying most of time. Also right mow we have a camper-counselor tournament wher the kids pick a counselor to play doubles with. I have two partners do to some cofusion and lack of willing and able counselors. Both are like eleven or twelve and ok at tennis. One thinks he is better than he his and a soar loser so we'll see how that goes.

Well i miss everyone and will let you know how the tennis goes

Hey everyone,

We just got back from Dorney Park where we were for a good eight hours. A little tired and soar to say without really neesing to say at all. We started our day at 6 am and left camp around 8 am. It takes about two hors to get there and when we did we went straight to a pavillion where we had lunch around 11. The day was split up into two halves: one half with your cabin( if you have inters(which is what i have) or juniors)and the other half you get to go off on your own. I got the first half off, so Deede took the four girls around the park gid bless her. I went on every rollercoaster they had( it is not that big of a park) with some other people who had first half off. My favorite ride was called Talon it is kinda like the Batman one in Six Flags. They also had a right that was just like V2 but with a different name. That one was extra fun because i got to sit in the front with Nick (he is this tiny guy from Columbia who also teaches tennis with me) and he screamed like a girl in Spanish the whole time, i couldn't stop laughing.

The second half was ok. Girls will be girls so they all wanted to do differnt thing all at the same time and if we don't do what they want to do it is the end of the world and we never listen to them. Ugh! How Deede did this first when they were all hyped up? . . I will never know.
Over a very enjoyable and stressful day.
I have to go to bed now; sooooo tired.

Two weeks down . . .

It has been two weeks of offical camp at Lake Greeley( i'm not counting the week before for orientation, though i should). One of my campers, Maddie D, has left us to spend the rest of her summer with her family. I am sad to see her go she was a fun weird little bugger who had english parents so her and her sister who was here too would go into their english accent, it was really cool, but i can't be too sad cuz she is going to England and France next for a good part of the summer.
Bugger

We get a new girl tomorrow who i think is staying for the rest of the summer. The whole camp is going to an amusement park, Dorney Park, on wednesday, and i am really excited. Rollercoasters!! Oh yeah!
Tomorrow my day off starts at 7 pm and our group is driving to Philly where we will stay at someones place and the next day go to the zoo and chill. Though we make plan who knows how closely we will follow them?

Right now i have internet connection in my cabin cuz ours is the nearest to the lounge that supplies it. If this keeps up hopefully i will be able to post more. Lets hoe!

Love and miss everyone

Why i love mom even more. . .

I love my mom even more now (if that's possible) because now, now i feel like one. I tell Deede, my co-counselor, that it is like we got married and had 4 ten-year-old daughters for our honeymoon. I call her my wife, and i am hers. These kids are crazy and only sometimes listen to us and are all over us and challenging every we say. Parents, why do you have kids?

Tonight we had a counselor hunt, and it is exactly what it sounds like. The 7-12 year old counselors got a head start and then the kids had to tag us to get points, however, some of us were worth negative points. I was worth negative 200 and was caught at least ten times. Ha!

Looking forward to my day off, though i don't know what i will be doing.

Let you know when i do.

First day of Campers

I have just finished my first day with the campers. Deede and I (my co-counselor)have four kids in our cabin.Hannah, Elizabeth, Abby, and Maddie and they are all 10. very hyper and clingy. Tomorrow i will be playing tennis all day. I got certified in adventure as well so i will be doing that some days. I am tired all the time and need to keep my energy up all the time. Hopefully i can work it out. Everything is crazy and i'm a little home sick. Anyone got combat tips for homesickness? It is weird to the one missing home when all the kids are fine and have never been homesick duringtheir many summers here.

I hope every one is doing well.
